Designer's Note
“A new Arabica store has opened in Plaza Indonesia, a luxury shopping mall in the heart of Jakarta.
Jakarta is dotted with circular plazas, among which “Bundaran HI,” located in front of Plaza Indonesia, is one of the city’s most iconic landmarks. The new store sits at the center of the mall’s basement floor and features a circular layout inspired by Jakarta’s plazas. Its open design, free of visual barriers, welcomes visitors from every direction.
Drawing inspiration from the white walls and orange-tiled roofs characteristic of Indonesia’s enduring colonial architecture, the store is adorned with handmade Chemex-shaped tiles in white and terracotta. Together, they create an impressive and striking space at the center of the floor.
Just as Jakarta’s circular plazas bring people together, we hope this new Arabica becomes a place where visitors gather from all directions and an indispensable part of daily life in Jakarta city.”
